Daysailing

Messenger Sails and Portland Sailing Center are pleased to offer skippered outings for up to eighteen people on three boats in Portland, or twelve people on two boats at Cascade Locks in the world-famous Columbia River Gorge. Typical outings are two to four hours, depending on conditions and your wishes.

These outings are for groups and individuals who wish to learn and participate in sailing the boat, and are well suited for entertainment, rewards or team-building for non-sailors and sailors alike.

Daysailing requires no previous experience. We can take non-sailors if they are fit for the rigors of sailing. We will provide professional crew as needed.

Daysailing in Portland

Our dock at Portland Sailing Center is minutes from downtown Portland. Fair to fine dining is not far away. Winds in the summer are generally from the northwest, 5 to 15 knots. Portland sailing is an excellent choice for a convenient excursion, and very often a rousing sail.

Hourly rates for Portland:

• 35 foot boat (maximum six passengers) $65/hr. for two people, add $10 for each additional passenger hour.
• 38 or 39 foot boat (maximum six passengers each) $75/hr. for two people, add $10 for each additional passenger hour.

Daysailing in the Columbia River Gorge

Summer winds in The Gorge are generally westerly, 10 to 20 knots. With warm summer temperatures this can be a laugh-out-loud ride, and if the winds disappoint the scenery picks up the slack. Try the pizza at Salmon Row in town, or picnic at Cascade Locks Marine Park and we’ll pick you up from the docks east of the Sternwheeler facility.

Call the Port of Cascade Locks at 541-374-8619 or www.cascadelocks.net/EventPlan.html for information on park amenities and availability. The town of Cascade Locks is only 44 miles from downtown Portland at I-84 exit 44, just upriver from Bonneville Dam and locks.
